Bar Jobs and Bar Work

If you want to work in a bar, Mitchells and Butler one of the UK's multinational offer fast track graduate training prpgrams.  After which you would see yourself running a business with an everage annual turnover of £1m and managing a team of up to 100 people.  McMullens, another UK multinational offers great support and training for first time managers

But is not just front of house roles that can provide a challenge.  The smoking ban can provide a challenge.  The smoking ban has not only made pubs healthier places to work, but prompted them to offer better quality food in a bid to attract families and women rather than the stereo-typical male drinker.  In fact, pub food is now a £6b industry, and food contributes about 25% to the average pub's turnover.  Not only does this mean that good pub chefs are increasingly in demand, it means there is much more scope to develop your career, from fine dining in top gastropubs to traditional pub fare.

If you want something a bit racier and faster paced, you could try a themed bar or pub.  Aussie, Irish and sports bars and pubs are particularly fun and fast-paced, as are the group called Revolution Bars or Novus Leisure.  There are also family orientated pub chains where the focus is on food and, there are of course the bars within hotels - some very very slinky and sophisticated.

In fact, there's are bar and pub to suit every personality. Local bars and pubs mean you'll have to adapt to the community, perhaps organise quiz night, get involved with things in the community, remember regualrs names
